Tree pruning
Pruning can alleviate and solve a wide variety of problems that you may encounter on your property. No stump is too big. We have the machines that are able to remove the largest of stumps in the tightest of areas. Our machines can manoeuvre through a gate as small as 36 inches. CABLING
Trees can develop a number of problems that would not be a big deal in a forest setting but pose a hazard in the urban environment. One of the most common of these is co-dominant stems. This is when a tree has two stems that are competing with one another for crown space. The problem with this is that it can create a bad connection where the two stems veer off. Bark can become included inside the main crotch as the tree grows in diameter. Ideally it is better to remove one stem while the tree is young as this will create a strong single leader, but if the tree is too old then a cable would be the best option. The older more established way of cabling is to drill a hole through the stems being secured, attach a bolt with an eye to it and then attach a steel cable to connect the various stems together thereby bracing them. Our company utilizes a new and less invasive type of cable to secure stems together. It is called a Cobra Cable. This cable is made from a synthetic fibre that is secured around the stem (no drilling is required) in a way that, as the tree stem grows in diameter, the cable will open up allowing it to grow. We also install a rubber shock absorber that will permit the stems to move without a shock force. This is better than a steel cable because steel doesn’t allow the stems to move and therefore the tree tends to use it as a crutch. Consequently the tree does not strengthen itself, even to accommodate the ever growing stem. An Arborist Report is a report that details everything about a specific tree or trees on a property for example: health, size, species, diameter, soil type, single or double stemmed etc. This information is useful for many reasons. For example: if you are trying to preserve a tree, trying to get a problem tree removed or are planning to build a new home. Most municipalities require an arborist report before you can start building a new home so if this is what you need please feel free to give us a call.

ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY INSECT AND DISEASE CONTROL
Our company is pesticide free. This means that we utilize insect and disease controls that does not require spraying the foliage of tree with petroleum based pesticides. We use methods as simple as placing a sticky tape along the trunk of a tree to trap insect pests that over winter in the soil and crawl up the trunk. FERTILIZING
It is a common misconception that a person can tell exactly what kind of nutrients is lacking in the soil by looking at the crown of a tree. There are many different types of nutrients that a tree requires and when it is lacking, it can have numerous effects on the tree. For example: a lack of nitrogen can cause tree leaves to yellow but other nutrients can have the same effect. If you fertilize a tree not knowing exactly what is missing you can cause more problems then the fertilizer will solve. Too much nitrogen in the soil can cause tree leaves to burn. Know exactly what’s required. Our Arborists utilize leaf and soil samples to determine what kind of fertilizer is needed to keep your tree healthy. In most cases fertilizing is not required. EMERGENCY STORM SERVICE
If you have tree that came crashing down in the middle of the night, give us a call and our crews will arrive to your property as soon as possible. Storms can cause a lot of damage to a number of residential properties and if the storm is big enough we will have to place jobs on a priority basis in terms of most hazardous. If your tree has fallen across your yard but is not interfering with anything then please be patient. We will be there as soon as we have taken care of any immediate hazards. Our policy in times of storms is to keep with our current rates. There are no extra charges in times of emergency but we do ask that you please be patient in these frustrating times.
